Steph Marhle-Mishra of Good Karma Dog Training demonstrates with a six-month-old, white boxer, puppy, how the “place” command, “heel” command, command can be trained and reinforced to allow this puppy to be included in his family’s life. This male boxer dog was behaving badly by jumping on people, growling, and nipping, stealing things and playing keep away, as well as counter surfing when he first arrived for a board and train with Good Karma Training. Using a balanced dog training method, in conjunction with the training tools (a Herm Sprenger prong collar, slip leash, aka slip lead, and an e-collar from E-collar Technologies) the dog’s behavior markedly improved in just five days of his board and train. If you are interested in training your dog to behave as a calm family dog, consider using a balanced dog training method and check out the other available dog training videos from Good Karma Training.
The “place” command can be used in the home to prevent bad behaviors such as excited rushing at the door, barking, biting, jumping, counter surfing, freely roaming the home, and getting into things like the trash, or chewing on furniture. Training your dog to calmly behave in your home and follow the “place” command consistently, will eliminate the occurrence of bad behavior both inside and outside of your home. Dog training is a process. It is not always pretty. It is absolutely NOT perfect. Dog training is not about perfection. It is about calm persistence. Watch right here, how Steph teaches this puppy how to behave more calmly and obediently, both in the home, and out of the home at the Farmer’s Market, and in the car.
